Boundaries of the Journal & Community
This is a mental health community and we do not discriminate on people's mental health as to whether they can join us here. The Journal, the Community is open for everyone, no matter where we are with our mental health and we cannot control who joins us, nor do we want to create such barriers. Therefore, there is always going to be a broad range of people using the Journal and in the Community who are at varying points with their mental health. For example there are people who have been practicing journaling and other forms of mental health support for a long time, there are mental health professionals, there are people new to focusing on their mental health, there are people with diagnosed mental health conditions and there are people right now struggling with their mental health.
Due to the open nature of the Journal, we will have people in this community who are suicidal or at risk of harming themselves or others and we'll have people in this community who've never opened the door to mental health, where there mental health is a complete unknown to them.
The Sanctus Journal and this Community isn't a replacement for professional mental health support with a counsellor, therapist or any other medical or clinical professional. It's an awareness raising tool that can connect you with others, it's in the same bracket as meditation or Yoga, with some mental health and wellbeing benefits.
You are responsible for what you share in your Journal either privately or publicly and given the private nature of the space, we will not reach out directly to individuals based on the content of your entries, either public or private.
The exception is if your public entries that can be seen by others in the community are abusive or have an intent to be harmful and disruptive to our Community, we have the right to remove those posts and remove you from the Community.
Our space is open to everyone, but we recognise it will not be the right space for everyone to get the mental health support they need. For people who are deeply struggling with their mental health or at risk of harming themselves or others, this is Journal to give voice to that experience yet there cannot be an expectation for support. We place the responsibility to seek additional support for their mental health on our Members and ask that you take responsibility to reach out for the appropriate support and we will endeavour to do our best to make this easy and accessible to do so.
